I am not sure that it is part of tonight’s program (ABC 8.00pm Friday 15 April) but the promo has been showing Sir Tony in front of a magnificent stained glass window. Melburnians may recognise the window as the one installed on the stair landing at Medley Hall, Carlton. The grand Italianate mansion (no expense spared!) was formerly called Benvenuta… and there is plenty more to tell.
I won’t spoil the story by telling why Tony is pointing and waving his arms about. The program shuld be worth watching.

It doesn’t matter how many thousands of Trove articles you read or how much you know about Melbourne. There are amazing things in Melbourne history that pop up all the time. What an awesome history lesson tonight and well presented by TR. And former Premier Jeff Kennett depicted as a Gargoyl at St Patrick’s Cathedral! Blimy! We’ve Ioved Tony Robertson since his days as “Fat Tulip” (you might have to google that one). Unfortunately the Brooks, Robinson & Co stained glass at Benvenuta/Medley Hall wasn’t mentioned on tonight’s episode so stay tuned to ABC. If you missed anything then go to ABC iView to catch up. In the opening credits ‘Carlton’ is named as a separate episode…so keep your eyes peeled!
